White Refined Sugar
  • High quality sugar with a maximum colour of 45 Icumsa units
  • From sugar beet or cane 
  • Our white sugar is approved by all of the largest food and beverage manufacturers globally
Molasses
  • Food grade molasses
  • Non-food grade molasses
  • Organic molasses
White Crystal Sugar
  • Suitable for a range of applications where price is more important than colour
  • Used in beverages, chocolate, biscuit and confectionary manufacturing
  • Offers a cost saving versus white refined sugar
Golden Granulated Sugar
  • Also know as VHP sugar
  • Very high polarity brown sugar with a maximum colour of 1300 icumsa units
  • Suitable for a range of baking applications

 

Demerara Sugar
  • Bona fide brown sugar with colour of 2500 – 2800 icumsa units
  • Generally higher cost than VHP sugar
  • Used for its intense caramel like flavour 
Organic Sugar
  • Sugar produced from organically grown sugar cane
  • Organic certified sugar with colour of between 300 – 500 Icumsa units
  • Naturally produced without the use of chemicals

Luca Galbiati

Director

Luca is a co-founder of Abercore and is responsible for overseeing all financial, operational and compliance aspects of the company. Luca is an Italian national and is fluent in English, Spanish and French. Luca was appointed Honorary Auditor for the Sugar Traders Association of the United Kingdom in 2019.

Rory Wilson

Director

Rory is a co-founder of Abercore and heads up Abercore’s EU sourcing and supply business. Rory focuses on the supply of preferential access sugars and molasses to food and beverage manufacturers. Rory is also a qualified corporate lawyer and graduated from the University of Edinburgh with a degree in French and European History.

Simon Johnson

Director

Simon has been instrumental in the growth of Abercore’s proprietary sugar trading business and has played a key role in the company’s strategic initiatives. Simon is a co-founder of Abercore and is responsible for the company’s UK sourcing and supply chain business. Simon was awarded a BA (Hons) degree in Agriculture and Land Management from the Royal Agricultural College.

Freddie Embleton

Sales and Trading

Freddie is involved in the sourcing and supply of sugar and sweeteners to manufacturing clients in the EU, Asia and Africa. He utilises strong commercial relationships with global sugar producers and shipping lines to provide clients with high-quality sugar, backed-up with smooth logistical execution. Freddie graduated with a BA (Hons) degree in Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies from Newcastle University.

Ben Clark

Sales and Trading

Ben focuses on the supply of preferential access conventional and organic bagged sugar to customers in the UK. Graduating with a first-class degree in Agri-Business Management from Newcastle University, Ben has close ties to agriculture having grown up working for a number of large farming businesses, many of which have significant acreages of sugar beet.

Mark Lovelock

Operations Manager

Mark started his operations and logistics career 40 years ago in the City of London. Starting in sugar and then moving into other commodities including edible nuts, dried fruits, cocoa and coffee. He also worked for LME floor traders and Commodity Futures brokerage firms. With the experience of shipping commodities worldwide from producer to warehousing and end users for many years, he brings a wide scope of knowledge to his position as Operations Manager at Abercore.

Mark is also a Robusta Coffee Grader for NYSE/ICE in London.

Christopher Perry

Operations Manager

Christopher has over 40 years’ experience in the sugar and bakery seed industries; starting as a trader for 20 years and now with over 20 years’ experience in operations and logistics having worked for Bunge and Tate & Lyle. Christopher manages our sugar and molasses supply chain to ensure their timely delivery to UK customers.
